I figured out why Katherine turned both Salvatores in 1864. Damon is Stefan’s humanity. Katherine understood that even then. She knew that if she wanted to have one Salvatore for eternity, then she would have to have them both.
Because Damon and Stefan can’t survive without each other.
If she had forced one to live for eternity without his brother, they would have never forgiven...
